Had my appointment this afternoon and she told me she is leaving next month. I really liked her. She did refer me to another doc but I don't get in to see her til Sept 1st. Let's hope I don't lose my **** between now and then! Wish me luck!

That's really short notice. I'm sorry your pdoc is leaving.

Is this new pdoc at the same practice? If so, then you'll be on file and you may be entitled to an emergency appointment with a random psych nurse or psychiatrist. If not, then I would find out if this new place offers emergency appointments for new patients who haven't been seen yet.

Good luck!

I've gone through 4 pdocs over the past 2 years because of them leaving. One left without even letting me know...the clinic just called me and said she'd left. It sucks. I hope you like your new pdoc.

In my case my first pdoc said he would be available during the transition even though he no longer had the same affiliation.....he was just moving across town but to the VA where I could not see him. Maybe your current pdoc would have phone availability during the transition? Or some coverage by another doc?

New P doc will be at the same location so they will have my files. Just really shocked to hear the news today and can't get in with new doc till Sept.

That's very short notice. I'd be shocked, too.
You've had a lot going on; you didn't need this, too!
I hope it works out okay for you.

I'm sorry you have to go through such a change. Sometimes it works out that you find someone better this way though when you didn't even know you needed better. I hope something positive comes of the change.

Oh geez, what short notice. I hope the new pdoc turns out to be great for you. How long have you been seeing current pdoc?

I've been seeing mine for 5.5 years, and I'll be so sad when I lose him. He is older, so I'm just waiting for the "I'm retiring" bombshell.
Thanks for this!

I've been with her since I got out of my first inpatient like 2.5 years ago. She is always running f late but she takes her time with you. No rush at all. Thanks everyone for your comments

That's tough news. I would find that difficult. How are you coping at the moment in general? Do you think you will be able to ride it out until September?

Good luck with your new pdoc and with keeping it together until September (that seems like a long time to me). I don't know what I'd do if my pdoc left. We've been together so many years that it would be a big loss. My tdoc is closing her office in September because she took a job at the VA. She is going to try therapy via computer or phone. It will be a huge loss if this doesn't work out. I doubt I'll try to find a new tdoc. Best wishes.

My pdoc is leaving too. She's working full-time with substance abusers and not taking any MH clients. I see the new pdoc next week. Hope she's okay.
