When I was younger I used to flip my ****, rage, and get destructive when I heard the tik tok of a clock. Now when I hear snoring, breathing, or chewing I become furious. It's terrible! I don't know how to make it stop. I can't be around my mother because she breathes so heavily and chews like a ******* cow. I try to control my anger but over half the time within 2 seconds of hearing any trigger sound I have to leave or I will go ballistic. I can stand clocks now so I hope in the future I can handle the sounds that bother me so much now. Anyone else? I find it gets worse when manic or depressed, and when manic I can't control the resulting rage nearly as much. It is always there though even when baseline.

I get this way when sometimes when in an episode. Certain particular noises and loud or sudden noises just set me off. Clocks are one of them.

I was going to mention misophonia as well. It's a real condition, affects a lot of people. Check out Gina re's link.

Thanks for the link. Very relatable.
But now the question is how to get rid of it or at least cope better? |

You can bring it up to your pdoc or t for help in your reaction. Maybe certain therapies to control your reactions or meds to control the rage....??

I have misophonia as well. Some sounds---especially repetitive ones---make me crazy. I also can't stand sudden loud noises, such as balloons popping, that startle me and make me want to cry, which pisses me off. Been this way my whole life.

My daughter has that problem with anybody chewing anything. I have that problem with my brother eating. It really, really bothers me. I've never gone into a rage about it but it agitates me so much that I limit my exposure to it. Hope you can get relief for your problem. Best wishes.
