Does talking about problems make them (or, rather, the effect they have on you) better or worse? Or does it depend on how you talk about them, at which point or the kind of problems?
Is talking about BP (always) good for you? When?

I have found talking helps. Another good tool is writing in a journal.

Talking (or writing I should say) helped me work through a lot of paranoia; which let me get the BD treated; which then let me get the paranoia treated.

I've always found talking about a problem helps me process it. Best wishes.

Yeah, talking helps. It especially helps to talk with others who have the mood disorder.

It helps me to talk about it with others that have BP. However, trying to talk to people who don't understand (and maybe don't want to) does not help me.

I think you can only open up when you are ready. Talking about it makes it real and puts it out in open. It can open a can of worms and like you suspected make matters work.
I would try reading and writing first. Find a creative outlet. We build walls for a reason to protect ourselves. It has to be the right person at the right time who gets to see our vulnerabilities. I wouldnt like a doctor keeping a file on me and all my past. |

It depends on what problems I'm having.

Sometimes, it's helpful to talk about it, sometimes not so much!
It all depends upon several factors. ![]() WC |
