Sometimes, usually only when I'm quite unwell, I have this strange sensory misperception (hallucination?) where I hear sounds coming from the wrong direction. Today my fiancee said something to me while she was standing right in front of me, but I perceived her voice as coming from the side. It's like I saw her lips move but heard the sound from a totally different direction.

Has this ever happened to anyone here before? Is this a kind of hallucination?

I hear sounds in all kinds of strange ways all the time. I can hear someone talking from far away just fine and someone standing right in front of me I don't comprehend. I think our brains are just wired a bit differently.

My hearing has gone 'off' at times but not like that exactly. Does sound like a mild hallucination.

Yeah -- there are times that sounds just don't work for me...I can't make sense of them (like dialog on TV or co-workers, etc) and times when the sounds kinda of snap off or distort somehow.

THere are times also when I can feel sound -- particularly if I am really into what I am playing on an instrument.

Perhaps never quite as specific as that, but I constantly hear things from the wrong area - maybe I hear a sound in a particular room of the house or coming from behind me, but the noise is really coming from somewhere else. It's irritating, but I never think of it as hallucinating. It does bug me that no one else I am around seems to have this issue, so I feel a little crazy about it.
