my boyfriend just commented, "do you think I wanna be with somebody who is sad, complaining, and negative everyday" my feelings are so hurt because i don't wanna use being BP as a crunch, maybe I can control being sad, and pull myself out of bed and do what I need without a complaint. I am not happy and can not stop crying, this has made me feel very bad about myself. I took my seroquel after in hopes of preventing a trigger to a mixed episode, which is what would usually happen and thankfully I don't feel one coming on. I'm just very hurt. I feel like this is me, and if he can't handle me while I'm down then why enjoy me while I'm up.

I know that hurt, but it is hard to be around us bipolars when we are depressed--negative, complaining. Yes, please take your meds and try to stay healthy==but it isn't something we can always just command to happen. I hope he realizes that!

So sorry you are feeling this hurt. I feel the same with my husband. He's all the time talking about how unhappy I am. Can't help it when I'm depressed. Heck none of want to be this way. I hope that he can come to understand that you can't help it. ((Hugs)) I hope you feel better and it's good that you have your meds.

I'm sorry he said that to you. He clearly doesn't understand the nature of the illness. Many people without mental illness just don't get it. You are fine just the way you are. Please be gentle and compassionate with yourself. Best wishes.

I am also so sorry he said that to you... especially in such a blatantly hurtful, impatient way. I wonder if you could tell him (when you are in a more stable state of mind) that part of being with you is being with you through the "downs". You can't just think happy thoughts and stop being this way!

So sorry he said that to you. That was really inconsiderate. Be good to yourself and do some self-soothing; see if that helps.
