Do you get more manic at night? I always am worse at night. I'll be calmer in the morning after I take a ton of PRNs but at night I take my meds and my PRNs and I still am agitated and thoughts are crazy and all the usual.

Tonight is being made much, much worse by fireworks. I don't handle those well on good days. Sometimes living in the country is not as good as other times.

I was so tired 5 hours ago............so sleepy and yawning and I thought tonight would be easy. No go.

The truly ironic thing is that before my therapist went on vacation we talked about who would cover for him because the person who has always done it if I needed anything while he was away has cut back her hours. We talked about how we were doing this for no reason because I was going to be fine, no way would I get manic. Hahahaha.

I'm using my PRNs but not getting to sleep until 6 AM.

I emailed my pdoc so she knows what is going on. I restarted the old dose of clozaril tonight which should help. I can call Monday but mostly I have things to do already to handle it and getting hold of her is hard. Hopefuly I can handle it at home ok. The only reason to call is if I have ot add valium; I don't like to do that without permission in case someone drug tests me. I think she's fine with it since she gives me the script but it's not on my current drug list.

Ya evenings tend to be worse sometimes. I can be falling asleep on the couch watching tv then go to bed only to become wired and agitated then I always listen to LOUD music with my headphones basically bopping to the music in bed until I fade.

Yeah, I'm the same as you when it comes to upswings... PRNs don't help me much sleep wise. Also like you, I usually have to up my AP dose and hope for the best.

Tbh though, I like benzos when I'm manic. They don't really help me with sleep, but they knock down my hyperactivity a few notches by calming me down. Helps control my impulses. So I hope you can get your Valium soon. Useful stuff.

Another thing I try to do is force myself to lay down just to chillax. Helps with my impulse control like benzos do because I'm not going anywhere and getting myself in trouble. Then I play on my phone while lying down and watching some YouTube videos that require a lot of attention. My focus and everything totally sucks, so it really wears me out to focus very hard.

While I tend to be worse during the day (early afternoon is the worst), I also have problems sleeping at night. I do take a sleep aid and sometimes it works. The biggest thing is just calming my brain down so I can sleep. I find if I don't think of anything I fall asleep faster. My husband tends to wake up really early so I have to deal with that as well.

Can you take naps during the day to make up for time lost during the night?

Hopefully, your old dose of AP knock it down to tolerable. My mania and depression always get worse at night.
