What is sleeping? Pha I don't need that!
Is there a possibility that we might get a hurricane/tornado/a windstorm in Bulgaria? Nah, but that didn't stop me from packing for the apocalypse. Am I psychotic along side with mania, yep, pretty much. Do I have plans for sleeping? Nah. Let me tell you. I went through my list of ways to kill, and added about 50 more. Pretty interesting things to be honest, shall publish it sometime. Could help some people. How do you fall asleep? |

Being much stricter with myself on sleep hygiene has helped quite a bit; but before I knew I had a problem, I could force sleep with alcohol, a bucket ton of it, but it did work. I didn't do that often, but it was always my backup plan. Not sure that that's any different than relying on meds though and its certainly unhealthy.
melatonin / benedryl... don't do squat for me. My doc doesn't like me relying on chemistry as long as I can make the behavioral trick work I think. I didn't say it, but was thinking it a couple months ago, "com'on, everyone else gets sero'snooze, I say one dumb thing and I get started with an expensive, stimulating AP instead.." /bah :-D

I take ambien and klonopin every night now (at about 11 or 12) but am up until 3 or 4 am. I work full time and it is killing me-i think my body is worn down.
I've had insomnia for years, but never like this.I feel like I have brain damage. Asked my psych about seroquil and he said it is bad news for weight gain, blood sugar. I can't take trazadone or amtriptlyne because of irregular heartbeat. |

My Lamictal and Haldol help with falling asleep. I still wake up quite often but I can usually deal with it for the most part.

Quetiapine helps, but it doesn't always. And I listen to the radio.

I fall asleep slowly. Takes a while usually.
Depends how tired I am. But things that help are reading before bed (when I was in college my chemistry textbook was a help!) or doing a xword puzzle. Listening to music works when my head won't shut up. When really desperate I start doing dumb shat in my head like naming animals that start with each letter of the alphabet or counting down from 1000. I can't say how successful these were, I think they just killed time until I did fall asleeep. Sometimes just lying there and changing positions (side to stomach) helps. If you just don't want to sleep, sometimes forcing yourself to go thru your nightly ritual and getting into bed can help even tho u don't feel tired. My pdoc won't give me anything for sleep and I honestly probably Wouldnt take it anyway. An unhealthy method that always worked in college was excessive drinking. They say passed out alcohol induced sleep is not quality sleep but I swear I would feel great the next morning from sleep with my brain shut off. Wouldn't recommend this though, as it could lead to insomnia not being ur only problem. Best of luck sleeping. |

I love how I've gone through so much things that don't work anymore. My first psychiatrist prescribed me Atarax, which was supposed to help me with anxiety and depression, in reality it just made me sleep the whole day. Since I drank it almost for a year (5mg a day) and alongside it I had melatonin (in case I wake up during the day ya know) so I think my body just got used to it, grew tolerance, and nothing works anymore..and then I got prescribed Abilify and that added much much more XD I don't think I can ever get medicine that works for me.

Although I take Lunesta for sleep, if I'm overheating anywhere, especially my feet, forget it. I have to wait to cool off before I sleep.
My husband also likes to snuggle at night, which doesn't help but I do it anyway. |

I sometimes toss and turn. Some nights I fall asleep right away. I just lay there with my eyes closed until I fall asleep 🐻.

Going to bed and getting up at the same time everyday really helped me, even if sometimes it takes me forever to fall asleep. I go to bed pretty early. My current meds also have really helped.
