I'm normally on 10mg of Valium. It doesn't do much for me at all. In the hospital they changed it to 5mg. It seemed like it made me calmer and sleepier. Is it possible that a lower dose can do more?

Nooo....I'm quite sure that Valium dosing doesn't work that way. It's not like, say, Seroquel. In my experience, the higher the dose of a benzo, the more sedating and anti-anxiety properties it provides.

Hmm that's weird then. Thanks

I think it might be one of your other medications keeping you calmer and sleepier. I know for me zyprexa keeps me calm the entire next day I just use xanax for breakthrough panic and anxiety. I am glad you are feeling calmer though.

It could be the totality of your meds and the timing of them together. It's great you are getting a better outcome with a lower dosage, that's great news.

Were you on different meds with the 5mg tab than the meds you're on with the 10 mg tab? If so, the interaction of valium along with other meds may make the 5 mg valium seem more potent.

That said, I was in an ER once when they gave me some lorazepam. I swear their brand of it was more potent than the brand I had at home.

Yeah I was on celexa, remeron, and risperdal with the 5mg that I wasn't with the 10mg. I'm thinking it was that. Though the 10mg I have now still doesn't do anything.
