Like the title says, my disability mental evaluation is scheduled for Thursday. Anyone been through that and can tell me what to expect? Also any tips on what I should share with the psychologist would be much appreciated! Stay strong, folks!

Just like with all things disability application related just tell them how hard it is to do things. Our natural inclination is to say "oh yes, I can do that" but with disability application you need to describe how hard it is and why. Show them that life is really difficult at this point and that you do need the help.

The guy doing my evaluation was very stern and unfriendly. It didn't matter though...I was a sobbing, incoherent mess. It was clear I was disabled. Good luck on your evaluation.

Just be honest. Make sure your responses are thought about and really analyze them.

If you are not diagnosed, it is a good thing. But if you are, that means you can get help.

Make sure you explain the things that you can't do because of your disability. Function is the name of the game with disability reviews. I went through one of these reviews, and then they denied me -- but when I appealed they granted disability. Who knows exactly why they decide what they do....
Thanks for this!

Thank you for all of your help, guys. I will keep all of your responses in mind. Less than 3 hours! I am so nervous! Did food bank yesterday...this whole thing is such a humbling experience.

I blathered on about my life for fifty minutes. The gal finally said "Is there anything else you'd like to share?" I was a teacher and said..."you know, I'm really scared to see things (hallucinations) and be in a classroom with 30 third graders." They called me three days later and said I was approved.
