I was on Valium for a long time and thought it wasn't doing anything so my pdoc put me on buspar. I didn't realize how much the Valium actually helped.

My question is can you take both at the same time? Or should I have him switch me back to Valium?

Welcome back! I don't think there is a reason to not be on both at once other than if it's not working there's not much point in taking it. (I ran an interaction checker and it said no interactions).

Did they pull you off valium completely without tapering? Usually benzos are tapered over a fairly long time period although I think valium is supposed to be easier to get off of (not sure though).

When do you see your pdoc? This will be the new one?

Buspar didn't work at all for me. It was useless. It's up to you if you want to go back on valium.

I think it really is hard to know how much and how well something is working until we stop taking it; I think this is, in part, why some people stop taking their meds.

If valium worked, if you're worse off without it, I'd ask to go back on it. I don't know about taking both those meds at the same time, but if the Buspar isn't helping, then maybe you could go back to the way it was: valium only.
