That's great news. I've been on SSDI for awhile now and so far no reviews knock on wood. They have sent me 2 review forms in the mail asking when I saw the doctor, what's my diagnosis ect. Best wishes.
Thanks for this!

Awesome!

My younger sister got on without too much trouble or too long of a wait. I don't know what causes some to get held up and some to sail through. There are a couple of people in my DBSA support group who are having a tough time and it is pretty obvious that they can't get hired. I think what helped my sister was that her last employer was sympathetic and tried to accommodate her and wrote a letter on her behalf that she included in her application.

I told you that they'd approve you and just like to torture you in the process . Now you get 3 years to relax. I'm so happy for you.

How many times did you have to apply before you were approved? I am on my second attempt and should hear something any day now.

My wife has been trying to get me to apply. I have heard it is a big hassle though. Can I do it without a lawyer?

Yes but if you're denied first I'd recommend one

This is political (which is generally frowned upon here), but there's a lot of talk in Washington about cutting funds for disability....not to mention other cuts. I've never been denied a renewal, but I fear that might be on the horizon with all the changes going on. I know I could never hold a job longterm, but there's a certain mindset about "invisible disabilities." I wonder if I'd be one of the first to be cut-off.

I'm told this is my second attempt. I say it that way because when I went for my first interview, they informed me I had applied and been rejected in 2008. To say that it was a rough year for me would be to say the sky is blue. I don't remember anything about applying for disability back then.

This time around, I have been diligent to jump through all the hoops all the while asking, 'how high?', in the hope that it will help my chances.

I don't know what a lawyer costs. Do they get a percentage of what you get like in civil suits?

I'm just going to do this on my own. I was once told by a social worker that you have to keep trying. If you make it to 6 attempts, they'll approve you. I don't know if that's fact or not.

If I'm denied, I'll appeal. I have no doubt I qualify, the question is, were all the 'I's' dotted and the 'T's' crossed to their satisfaction. There's no question about my diagnoses.

If you find a lawyer who disability suits like I did then they only take pay if you're approved. Even then it's taken from back pay so I didn't consider it a big deal because he did all the work and I didn't have to go to a hearing.

I got a notice two years ago asking for all my hospitalizations after my initial approval. I had a bunch of them. I haven't heard about a review yet though; it may be this year or next.

Anyhow, congratulations on your re-approval!
