I'm still having suicidal thoughts. I can't tell if I'd act on them or not. I just got out of hospital yesterday but I almost feel like I should go back.

Has anyone done this before? Get discharged from hospital and then head right back for it?

If you're still having suicidal thoughts, my opinion is that you need to contact a pdoc, probably by going into the ER.
Thanks for this!

For me in the past when I have found myself in this iffy spot, I ask myself "Can I promise myself that I am safe right now?" If the answer was no, I would go to the emergency room. If you are just having thoughts I encourage you to talk to someone close to you about how you're feeling, and ask them to be with you during this difficult time if you feel that will help. If it will also help, give someone you trust your medication and have them give you your proper doses when needed. Even just having suicidal thoughts is difficult and I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for this!

In the US state I live in, going to the ER for suicidal thoughts or actions leads to involuntary commitment for at least a few days. It is the same as going to the hospital but you don't get to pick which one. Beds are scarce and they just keep you in the ER until one opens. Near my location, there is a crisis assessment center that is part of a preferred hospital system I would go to first.

I know where I live (US) there is a crisis center that is 24/7 and the also have a mobile crisis unit that is able to come to you if you can't get to them. Maybe you should try googling your area for something similar. (((Hugs)))

We should embed a suicide hotline to our friend. Don't know of any... Shall we?
Thanks for this!

Franz Kafka might need exactly that: a few days in the hospital. And/or he might need a medication assessment.
Thanks for this!

Have you ever considered Ketamine therapy? Is it legal in your country? I have had both experiences with it both recreationally which I do not condone and medically. It instantly brings releif. Discuss this with your health care provider.

I'm going to try to hold out if I can, but if not I'm driving right back there. Thanks all for the advice and good wishes.

I've done that, been in hospital, got out before I was ready, right back two weeks later. If you're still feeling suicidal and you think you may act on it you should go back. There's no shame in it.

Just as long as you feel that you are not capable of hurting yourself my friend.
