I have been IP for a week now. My pdoc added Saphris and I am now up to 10 mg twice a day. He has reduced my Prozac from 20 - 10 mg and added Lamictal 25 mg last night. I also take Lithium 900 mg and Clonazepam.

How long does it take to titrate up to am effective dose on Lamictal? I am in a deep depression and long for relief, if it works at all. I haven't been this low in recent memory and have SI. I just want to stabilise enough to get home and start my uni studies next week. Does Lamicatal work well for depression in anyone?

Lamictal does help with depression by helping to prevent depression following a mania.
You have to slowly increase the lamictal....it takes a while. therapeutic dose is 200mg. soit will be 25mg for a week the 50mg for a week then so on.
sorry sweetie, I wish it were sooner.

Damn ... I was hoping for it to be quicker but I guess I have to watch out for nasty side effects.

Thankfully my mood has shot up so waiting for Lamictal to work should be no problem. Nurses think I'm hypomanic but I think I'm just happy to not be depressed. Time will tell I guess.

Hope the hypo signals the end of your depression. That one was pretty dark.

I sure hope everything goes smoothly and you get some relief soon. I don't know the answer to your med question but I'm sure someone who knows will fill you in. (((Hugs)))

They might titrate you up faster if you're in the hospital. When I started lamictal many years ago I was in the hospital and the inpatient doctor took me from 25mg of lamictal to 200mg in three days and I was fine. I felt a lot better immediately.

I hope it works out for you.
