So... I give up.

My psychiatrist appointment keeps getting cancelled for reasons I have no idea about (i.e., they cancelled, not me) and I already haven't been feeling like taking medication. (I didn't take it these past two days.)

I don't think any of this is worth my time anymore. I'd rather be medication free than repeatedly cancelled on. Besides, I don't have the time anymore to go into psychiatrist offices at random times during the week. August 1st was the only free date before September 1st since my psychiatrist doesn't work Monday or Thursdays... and well, I'm supposed to work Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in my new office location in Boston, and on Mondays, work at my current office location. So the only day I can work from home now is Thursdays, when he doesn't work.

I can't even go to a new psychiatrist office in time. It'll take weeks, and by then, I'll be all out of medication anyways. Well, technically out of all medication in 4 days.

This is the 2nd time in a row that they've cancelled on me without explanation, and one time they even said I didn't have an appointment. (Yes I did because I had an appointment card and I watched my psychiatrist as we set up an appointment. So they obviously deleted it on me.)

They won't spot you a refill since they are the ones that cancelled? Really poor professionalism on their part if they won't.

I think they should refill your meds since they've cancelled twice. Please call them and talk to them about this. It's totally brainless of them. It sounds like you need a new pdoc. Good luck and best wishes.

Can a pcp fill your prescription if Pdoc says no? Tell them your in between pdocs. Then call a new pdoc and get an appointment with them. You have to change pdocs because of the lack of availability.

I am sorry it is so hard for you right now.
I agree with the others call your pdoc and request orders for your meds. Tell them that you have already run out of them.
This is serious business.
You really need to watch your bipolar if you intend to keep not taking your meds.
Please call for RX'S to be called in for you either from pdoc or PCP.
(((((HUGS)))))
I recently stopped taking abilify....I started to regress.
Increased alcohol consumption, internet use so am back on the 20mg of abilify. I was on the computer for 6 hours last night.
so I took a zyprexa to finally get to sleep.
Sigh

Sounds so very frustrating!

Your pdoc should be willing to call in your med refills.
Does your pdoc have any evening appointments?

Don't give up!
You'd be giving up on yourself, giving up on your own welfare, if you give up.

Much Love to you!

Are you sure you'll be okay just stopping your meds like that?

I'm worried about you.

That sucks but I'd agree with the group - ask your primary care doctor to refill. Heck, here in Vancouver a pharmacist can even refill some meds in an emergency situation.

Blue, please don't go off all your meds. We've seen you go off them before and it doesn't end well. Find someone, _anyone_, to refill. Primary doc or urgent care are both viable options. Or calling your psychiatrist's office and cursing them out for canceling your appointments might be cathartic as well. Might not get you anywhere, but might make you feel better.

i agree with wild coyote. you will only be hurting yourself. in my experience they will/and are obligated to call refills in until your next appointment.
going off any med suddenly would cause most ppl to go into an episode of crazy, bipolar or not. you are messing with brain chemicals so that's the way it goes.
wishing u the best
