I haven't been manic for about a year now, and haven't been (moderate to severely) depressed since Nov. 2016, but still things aren't quite right. I have these rages where I get destructive, and even broke my computer. I have been self harming and don't really know why. Also have been drinking/drugging to cope (this is fairly new). I'm sleeping fine and am taking my meds. My eating is off though, I'm restricting and purging.
Most of these things are pretty standard for me though (as in happen regardless of mood state), but the drinking/drugs and disordered eating are new (have been going on about a month).
Anyone else deal with these things even outside of episodes?

I have had them when I "think" i am not in a episode , but Bipolar has a sneaky way of distorting our perception.

The new symptoms your reporting are HUGE red flags.

Please see your Pdoc and T and get things under a calmer more stable you

EscapeArtist, these new symptoms might be your way of dealing with anxieties. I am also sure you're aware that there's the possibility that alcohol/drugs can trigger manic behavior.

I don't know. If you ask anybody that knows me irl if I'm in an episode they'll say no. I'm 100% sure I'm not having a bipolar episode. I'm actually pretty sure I don't even have bipolar. I'm sleeping good, doing well at work, etc etc. just having some problems with dealing with emotions.
