I know that some of you here have called me pathetic and immature for living with my parents since I'm in my 20s, but idc. I couldn't afford to move. Though now I'm finally going to move out of my parents' place!
I submitted a payment to my loan company to pay off a good chunk of my student loans, and after that payment goes through, I should, with my monthly payments, finish paying it off in 6 months (interest included). Loan free! Now I can afford to live on my own! I've been looking into apartments and want to move in around April (if all goes well). I would move in around February if I could, but that's too cold! 2 more months won't bite. Now I won't be stuck in such a triggering place! |

Congrats on coming closer to getting your own place. I'm sure no one has called you immature or pathetic for living with your parents. F with my rent I've thought about moving in with my mom plenty of times.

I doubt anyone here criticizes you for living with your parents. We all do what we need in order to get by. Congrats for paying off your loans.

Who has called you pathetic or immature? Is that paranoia talking? Congrats on getting your own place....with the triggering circumstances it's for the best. I think people who continue to live with family and smart. If we can help our parents in their old age it's not pathetic. It's also smart to recognize when something is triggering and do what we can to better our circumstances. Well done and enjoy!

Congratulations BB! I love living alone better than any other arrangement. It's so nice to have a place of peace and privacy. You're going to love it!

That's great Blue. You can make some of the fun start now if you make a list of things you'll need and start acquiring them to have them ready. I lived on my own in grad school and then moved into an apartment when I got my first job and it was so much fun to have money to actually decorate a bit in that first apartment with a salary. (Grad school decor was cheap bookshelves and if I got fancy a plastic tablecloth).

After I stopped working I moved back to my birth state. I lived with my grandmother for one year. Then I was able to move on my own. I do not feel pathetic and immature. It's good you have a plan in place to complete your goal of moving out. Living with someone can be triggering. Good luck

I had to move in with my parents when I was 40 after a severe episode disabled me. I was called all sorts of names but I just ignored them. My parents were more than willing to help and I had a safe space.
You just do what ya gotta do sometimes, things will change. |

I made a thread a while ago in this bipolar forum where people literally said I need to move out of my house because I'm too old to be living here. e.g., "when I was your age, I already had my own place." I had also mentioned somewhere in that thread that I had student loans, and I got harassed about that too for some reason. Edit: my thread had nothing to do with those things either. Just random criticizing comments about my living situation. |

I'm sorry to hear that, those people who said those things sound terrible. Know that most of us on here don't feel that way.

Hey Blue!
![]() I think you've done an amazing job of supporting your family, including your grandmother. You've also been very responsible in paying off your loans. I do recall your having gotten some negative comments about living with your parents in the past. I was sorry anyone would take such a stance. I'm sorry their comments have stuck with you. ![]() In my opinion, you are doing a great job with everything in your life. You have done extremely well in school. You have supported your family. You have paid off debt. You have been learning how to manage your BP issues. And more. I think you are amazing! You have my respect and admiration, ![]() WC |

I agree with the others, I think you have been very smart by living at home and paying off a large debt.

I'm sorry you were attacked for living at home and having student loans. So much silliness! You are smart enough to know better than to listen to such silliness blue. I wish it were easier to live with people than it actually is cause I'd love to have another family move in and share our home like they do in other cultures. It would be nice to have another women in the house as I'm surrounded by testosterone
