In May, I had been in the ER for overdosing on concerta due to some psychosis and a manic episode. I could not move or talk. It was like paralysis. But I could hear and understand everything going on around me. The ER doctor came in and picked me up and dropped me on the ground and made the nurses put me back on the bed. He was making jokes about me, saying I looked like a fag. I am gay. He was also making jokes about other people in the ER. After this incident, I didn't want to talk about it. But I was contacted by the director of the hospital and medical group for the whole hospital system. There had been other complaints from patients, nurses, other doctors. I told him what happened. I never mentioned an attorney, but he said he could do a settlement with my attorney. I never planned on suing them, but I guess I could talk to an attorney now. He is also asking me to tell my story to him (the medical director) and the nurse manager in front of this ER doctor. That ER doctor was a narcissist, and from what I've heard possibly a sociopath. I just don't feel like I'm in the right emotional state to talk about it in front of that doctor, but other patients are doing the same thing with the director and nurse manager. Maybe I should bring a family member with me.

I am so sorry to hear his happened. How terrible! I think you should get a lawyer and see what they say regarding going to this meeting and telling your story. I think You will need therapy to get over this and therefore deserve compensation. Whatever you decide I'm deeply sorry this sociopath did what he did. What a creep!!! (((Hugs)))

What an awful thing to have to go through, so sorry bewise93. Having to tell your story to the director and likely eventually a lawyer will certainly be hard but I would try to focus on that by doing this, you will be assisting in making sure it won't happen again to someone else. If you have someone you could bring along for these difficult discussions, it could help make those conversations a touch easier.

Definitely that guy needs to be punished. Shame on him! I do hope you can get some compensation for what you had to go through.

Definitely contact an attorney first, before you do anything else. They can advise you on how to proceed. Go to a malpractice attorney.

I agree with Elsa. It would be prudent to get an attorney's advice on this. It seems to me that if you have to tell your story in front of the doctor who abused you in the first place it might traumatize you even more.

Please consider getting an attorney before making statements and/or meeting with anyone else about this matter. It's critically important your rights are protected to the fullest extent allowed by law. An attorney can help to protect you and can get you a much better settlement.

It was nice of someone at the hospital to contact you; yet, be careful, as it seems a little too nice, as it's their own duty to their employer to settle for as little as possible. Their hospital is truly their #1 interest. They are trying to meet with you while you do not have a legal advisor/advocate. This maneuver is to their own advantage.

Protect your rights and best interests by securing an attorney to represent you.
