A show I watch triggers me (Reign). It's based off a time period when there were kings and queens. There is a lot of war and drama with in the castle. I started watching the show about two years ago. I just recently decided to watch it on Netflix from the beginning. I'm on episode seven and had to turn it off. My anxiety was so bad. I own and watch Pride and Prejudice so I'm use to show in that time period. I guess I'm changing and have a new trigger. I do not watch scary movies or rape they trigger me. Aside from that I've never had problems watching tv. Has anyone else been triggered by a tv show or movie?

First 48 is one of my favorites, but lately I can't get myself to watch it. That and Law and Order SVU. Both shows I really like, but watching episode after episode, back to back will just drag me deeper into the hole these days.

First 48 does that to me too. I gave up on it a few years ago. Well at least I know I'm not a lone in this. Thanks for replying

Certain types of shows, movies or games trigger really bad anxiety for me so I usually avoid them. Scary movies or shows or any kind of games that are shooter based.

I love period pieces as well but most that I've seen always have some elements of violence woven into the story plots, like Downton Abbey and Poldark. I think that's why I've become more drawn to watching musical theatre and Broadway, because it will present those themes but in a more positive light. I've only watched a few episodes of The Crown on Netflix and it hasn't been too bad, but I don't know whether I could say it is trigger free.
