So I had my iop yesterday and they showed me my treatment plan. I saw something that said axis v and I scored a 40. Of course I turn to google to see what that means and it said impairment in reality?! Does this mean psychosis? It's also known as gaf score.

The gaf score is your level of functioning. A score of 40 would mean your're having some trouble functioning in life, which you've said you are because you tend to stay in bed most of the time. It's really nothing to be concerned about. It's not a diagnosis or anything. I don't think it means psychosis at all.

It doesn't mean or not mean any specific thing, its a GENERAL function score, a combination of all factors, even including physical health issues.

Think of it as a score that rates your ability to take a shower, go to work, do your job, come home, prepare your dinner, relax, and go to sleep. 100 is perfect, 1 is completely non functional.

Psychosis of course would reduce the score.

Axis V: Global Assessment of Functioning or Child Global Assessment of Functioning [cGAF]

41 – 50 Serious symptoms (e.g., suicidal ideation, severe obsessional rituals, frequent shoplifting) or any serious impairment in social, occupational, or school functioning (e.g., no friends, unable to keep a job, cannot work).
31 – 40 Some impairment in reality testing or communication (e.g., speech is at times illogical, obscure, or irrelevant) or major impairment in several areas, such as work or school, family relations, judgment, thinking, or mood (e.g., depressed adult avoids friends, neglects family, and is unable to work; child frequently beats up younger children, is defiant at home, and is failing at school).
