So I met this guy when I was 18, (I'm now 30), when I was dating his best friend. But "S" and I had BP in common and for 12 years we turned to eachother. As we grew up, as our BP got worse, we were their for eachother. Well from a massive weight gain from zyprexa, he had a massive heart attack at the age of 34. No I'm not blaming zyprexa. I'm blaming his pdoc who didn't take his almost instant weight gain (70lbs) seriously. When your body has 70 extra lb's to carry around, your heart can't handle it.

Another friend of mine died years ago the same exact way from seroquel. And yea, I'm on seroquel too but I watch my weight. That guys family ended up winning a lawsuit against his dr.

I'm a wreck. He was one of two people I could turn to when I was manic, abusing substance, depressed. We got eachother out of it. I'm crushed. I'm at a total loss.

My sincere condolences. I lost a bipolar friend to suicide 15 years ago and it hurt hard. We met in a kickboxing class in San Francisco. A friend found my name in her address book and called to tell me what happened. I still think about her. She was an athletic and beautiful lesbian and once let me sleep with her when I had nowhere to go and she woke up in the middle of the night prodding my chest and wondering why I didn't have breasts. I attended her wedding. I wish that I had been around her in her final days; I may have been able to offer some support.

She survives in our memories.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Thanks for the inadvertent reminder about weight gain. I gained 70 pounds on zyprexa, too. IMO, zyprexa, especially, should be banned. Be good to yourself!

I believe he was a friend to whom you had referred often in your posts.

This is a major loss for you and my heart goes out to you.

Please be very kind to yourself during this very difficult time.

My Deepest Sympathy,

WC

And this is why I won't touch psych drugs even if my life depended on it.

I used to be on Seroquel and I would sooner die than take that crap ever again because getting off of it was a nightmare for me since I couldn't sleep for almost a full week after cutting off it.

It sucks that your friend died because of the incompetence of a mental health system that only cares about money. We need to start an uprising to put these subhuman piles of filth in their place.

I wish you the best and I hope you find a new friend one day.
Thanks for this!

I am so sorry Rx.....that is devastating news and my heart goes out to you. Almost everyone I know is taking meds I worry about for one reason or another. Meds can be really dangerous but so can not being on them. It's such a tough call. I'm so sorry your dear friend fell victim to a worst case scenario (((hugs)))
