Now I am having mood swings and periods of being very freightened right now about I do not kmow what. This lady is going to call me with an insurance quote. I have to update her on what is not on my record. Then this started and is getting worse and worse as time goes by. This makes no sense to me at all. I have never experienced this before. I wonder if I should call the crisis hotline if this gets any worse? I am sorry for posting things like this but I do not what else to do.

Sounds like a panic attack. Does your psychiatrist have an on-call number?

Thankyou for telling me its a panic attack. My doctor does not have any telephone number. He is part of a public facility that only permits messages to the doctor that is sent by the receptionist during business hours. I do have a PRN lorazepam that is 1 mg a tablet However I do not want it to effect my driving. Still I may wait to pick up groceries tomorrow. What dosage do all of you take for panic attacks?

If you don't take them often, I would start with half of one and if you don't feel better in 30-40 min, I would take the other half.

I have taken 1 mg before you had posted your suggestion. Next time I will do what you have suggested. I am starting to feel better. I have never had a panic attack like this before.
Thank you all for your help!

I take Valium and I am fine.
If my husband took one he would be asleep for 24 hours. So it varies for everyone, for safety use when you don't have to drive for a long stretch of time. Sorry panic attacks have found you ![]()

If you take 1mg lorazepam now, it shouldn't affect driving tomorrow. Lorazepam is pretty short-acting.

I am doing better now. I am more relaxed. What is different between a panic attack and an anxiety attack? I think my panic attack came from all of what has recently happened to me.

Panic is accompanied by *****ing hyperventilation and a few other nasty symptoms that vary from person to person.
Anxiety is more like an overdose of adrenalin... Wayyyy too much nervous energy bursting from your veins. Look up breathing exercises for panic attacks, they've helped me immensely, I only use the lorazapam for the very big ones these days. Breathing into a brown paper bag also helps a ton. I too am sorry the panic attack found you, sucks. My first one landed me in the hospital for 4hrs and the residual effects lasted at least 2 days, it was traumatizing and hugely embarrassing as it happened at work, so I had an audience. For me its usually the result of being overwhelmed, so you may wanna keep an eye on your stress levels Hope you feel better soon ![]() |

Panic attack: 1985 - driving on 285, having a heart attack. Pull over in rush-hour traffic with the certain knowledge that I’m soon to be dead. Police. Ambulance. Hospital. Oops, gee, sorry mister - it’s all in yer head. Anxiety: hesitate to say ‘attack.’ Generalized Anxiety Disorder. A notion, a disturbance, a feeling, an intuition, that something that you can only guess at, isn’t right. Suspicions. Yeah, slight paranoia. My hairbrush is on the floor? Is my door locked? Out of kilter, out of sorts. Wow, thinking feels... off. Do I dare to eat a peach? This shirt is dirty - no, I’m dirty! Racing, racing, racing queer thoughts of a generalized discomfort, sudden loss of well-being. Get it? For me: panic, I’m dying. Anxiety: something’s effed up but I’m not sure what and, Jesus in the Butt with a Stick, I just can’t stop thinking. Long-time Xanax Addict (no, no, no, never ABUSED the effers!) here and it helps... you won’t get a script today but I guess any benzo (if you can get it) might help PRN. Shows up in any blood/piss test. In state w/med weed? Godsend. Calm w/neuropathy pain relief. FYI. Anxiety, friend. Take care and action, please? |
