I'm on the invega shot and it comes with a lot of negative side effects for me (all AP's do). The one I can't live with is the sore stiff muscles. It gets so bad I can hardly move. I rely heavily on my side effect med (procycladine) and on it I feel fine. The problem is that I have one more day worth of this med and then I will be on my own with all the pain. The manufacturers ran out and my pharmacist can't find anymore anywhere until next month or even November. I can't wait that long. I've tried Two other side effect meds and they did not help at all. Do any of you know if there are more out there that helps?

Just a shot in the dark (no pun intended) what about a muscle relaxer like soma or flexiril.

I'm trying to get in contact with my pdoc to see if that's an option. Thanks for mentioning that.

I've had valium help temporarily with muscle stiffness. I only had it because it was a PRN but it helped a lot while I waited to get in to see my pdoc to get a script for something else.

All I have is klonopin. Still waiting to hear back from my pdoc. I took my last dose yesterday... getting scared of the pain that is waiting for me. Being in pain really messes with my mood too.

I am sorry you are going through this.

I was doing a trial of Haldol last year and had severe dystonia which was relieved with Benadryl. I imagine you've already tried this.

I used the liquid so I could titrate the dose, keeping it as low as possible while still giving me relief.

I am not a doctor, obviously; so, please check with your doctor and/or pharmacist.

Please also check for med interactions if/when choosing an over-the-counter remedy.

I hope you get some good news soon!

My pdoc got back to me. He wants me to try cogentin again. I was on it a few years ago and it didn't help that much and it made me dumb as a box of rocks...no short term memory. But I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point!

Hmmmmmm. Interesting. I got prescribed congentin for sweating too much. What dosage did you get? I’m on 1 mg 2x a day.

Same as you. It's supposed to help with dystonia. We'll see! I just took my first dose.

Ridged and spasms in muscles. Involintary muscle movements. Google it if you want a better explanation without all the spelling errors.

From Wikipedia:

Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder syndrome in which sustained or repetitive muscle contractions result in twisting and repetitive movements or abnormal fixed postures.[1] The movements may resemble a tremor. Dystonia is often intensified or exacerbated by physical activity, and symptoms may progress into adjacent muscles.[2]

I'm so sorry 99fairies. I don't know what to say. I know you can't just stop taking invega, it has to leave your system. I hope you get relief somehow soon.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I’ve had meds do this before and it was horrible trying to sleep while your muscles were pretty much flexing all night! I actually got cramps and spasms in my legs from it. I can’t remember exactly which med did It seeing as I’ve been on so many different ones. I would suggest a magnesium supplement before bed. Also, valerian root helps me relax nicely before bed too. Maybe a hot bath with Epsom salts. I’ve really been trying and studying vitamins lately and there’s a lot of trial and error and money wasted but valerian root and magnesium are keepers for me. When all else fails, I take Benadryl but it takes a high amount to get the relaxing benefits though. But I also take 300 mg seroquel at night but it doesn’t have a muscle relaxing effect for me. When I was going through this, even 900 mg didn’t work!
Thanks for this!
