I saw a sign today for a suicide prevention walk in my town. I signed up! I'll be walking alone but I'm very excited for it. I've wanted to get more involved in mental health awareness and this is a good place to start. I don't think I'm allowed to share my donation page on here (plus it has my real name so I'm not comfortable) but if anyone wants to donate to the AFSP in general, you can go to AFSP.org.
The walk is October 8 at 10am. I don't know how much I can raise by then but even if it's just $25 that helps. I wanted to do the NAMI walk last May but I couldn't get a team together. I wasn't sure if you could just walk as an individual or not. I'm excited!

They are having one here too. I saw an ad on the side of a bus and put it on my calendar. I hadn't heard of AFSP before. (Ours is happening on Saturday the 7th, so folks will want to check what their schedule is locally.)
(P.s. Yes, you can walk as an individual in NAMI walks -- I missed the one here too.) |

I attended one of them a few years back. It is hard to find people to donate to the walk. People just don't want to donate to a mental illness cause. I even posted on facebook that I was doing the walk and that I was looking for sponsors but no one donated anything. I donated a little and my parents donated some. But that was it. There is one coming up in October but I'm not sure I can make it this year. I already have to go to Cleveland once in October for a dentist appointment. Not sure I can afford to go twice in one month. It's hard being on a fixed budget. Especially if you have other things you need to pay for at the moment. Maybe next year.

My brother is walking with me!! I'm so glad to have his support. So far only one person has donated online but I'm going to shake down my family lol. Any little bit helps.
