Has anyone had an official (or even unofficial) diagnosis of bipolar and has made an informed decision not to take medication? I'm just curious.. it's difficult to get an accurate dx in these woods and I'm severely allergic to medication
![]() ![]() I suppose taking an antipsychotic and oral steroids might help me "function better" in the short term, but oral steroids frighten me. To be honest, doctors also frighten me ![]() I'm sorry if this is triggering ... I wish I could take meds as other tools aren't working especially well.. I'm not a "hypochondriac" or anything of that nature. And I wish I didn't have this issue. I hoped and still hope my body might somehow ...... ![]() ![]() I was told there isn't an availability of allergy desensitisation in the uk ![]() Thanks Fuzzy ![]()

I too have a lot of allergies to meds and other things so I understand. I have found some meds I can take though. I think it's possible to get a DX while letting them know you can't take the drugs.....they SHOULD be able to offer SOMETHING but I admit I don't know much, especially about healthcare in the U.K.
Oral steroids can cause mania so that seems counterproductive.......also, long term use of them can cause necrosis of the bones and many other terrible things. They are a wonder drug for the short term and can help lots of problems but should be taken only short term for most people. I can understand why you'd be scared of them. (((Hugs))) |

Thanks (((((((( hugs ))))))))
Unfortunately for me I'm also "allergic" psychologically to doctors .....I'm sure I'll "manage" somehow. (I don't trust them one bit here in the uk ![]() ![]()

I have a hard time trusting anyone in authority or power situations....they've abused me, failed to protect me and really let me down more often than not.....this includes doctors. Why do you mistrust doctors in the U.K.? Would you trust a doctor in another country more? I'm sorry you have trust issues.....they are terrible to contend with. (((Hugs)))

((((((( hugs ))))))) I'm sorry you have trust issues too, they are indeed terrible to deal with. I had therapy for rather a long time and the therapist "made" my trust issues "worse"
![]() ![]() I don't know if I would trust doctors more in another country. Maybe not now ![]() ![]()

I get it.....it's so hard. I keep going to my doctors when I can, hoping they will be able to help me.....they have but it's been slow and difficult. I'm just trying to have "faith" in them and faith is so hard for me. I hope you are able to find a doctor you at least feel a little comfortable with. (((Hugs)))
