I have not been diagnosed with bipolar, I been diagnosed with depression ,anxiety, ocd. My Psychatrist prescribed Zoloft 200mg been taking them for months. I do notice every few days my mood is up and down as if I’m a on rollercoaster some days I’m depressed full blown then it can switch to being happy or extremely happy feeling life is great work is great life is great I’m the greatest person ever. My psychatrist put me on Wellbutrin xl 150 mg because the Zoloft 200mg isn’t helping much. first week I was ok didn’t notice anything much going into the second week I started to become manic speeding , reckless driving got pulled over got a ticket etc. second week I’m full blown manic.. laughing . Can’t slow down my thoughts at night I don’t fall asleep until 3am then wake up at 5am. I feel so good nothing can bring me down I feel like I’m on a natural high.. very self aware of myself my movements the way I talk I even had a staring match with myself in the mirror. I went to a therapy session talked to the dr about what has been going on . My therapist advised me to stop taking the Wellbutrin 150 mg xl until a second opinion was advised. The whole day I’m not on the Wellbutrin xl I’m still energized hyped worked a 9am to 8pm shift and I still keep going. My psychiatrist switched me to Wellbutrin100mg SR will it continue to make me manic ? Why would a medication cause mania if I’m not bipolar ? At the end of the day Wellbutrin xl and sr is the same thing correct so it will have the same affect .?? And why do I love being manic is that normal ? Did Wellbutrin triggered something in me ?

All anti-depressants now come with the warning that this can happen to a small percentage of people and prescribers should be more aware of it! Report it to your doctor ASAP!!

I take 225 and 300 makes me hypomanic. It sounds like she is trying to titrate you down to see if a third less will just elevate your mood out of depression without going into mania.

My pdoc titrated up. I got a scrip for 1-4 75mg IR tabs a day and worked my way up. 300 was kinda fun, but even euphoric hypomania every day is not a good idea if you want to stay employed and not piss off everyone you know. I get arrogant and dismissive and some things come out of my mouth that don't play well with HR policies. I get away with infrequent episodes; someone in HR knows about it. But if I made that my new normal, no...

I’m not quite sure if it’s hypoManic or mania but I just know I feel really good like a high feeling. I talk more no filter .. open up more.. speeding more. Etc I do see my boss staring at me but deep down I don’t care really. We had a meeting with other employers and she resquested somethings and I blurred out yeah that’s not happening my co-workers thought it was funny but my boss looked annoyed and frustrated..
I felt this way on Zoloft but not to this extreme. I’m goingnto try the lower dose of Wellbutrin and see where that takes me.

I did something similar in a meeting, telling my boss about a tedious assignment "I'll get one of the younger guys to do that; they still think what we do is important." He was not amused.

sometimes it's hard not to blurt out the truth as we see it. Bosses have no sense of humor

There are 2 wellbutrins. One is extended release and one is instant release. Sometime the extended release prevents people from sleeping. That's what it does to me. Also you can't cut up the extended release for gradual increase or decrease of dosages. That why they use the instant release.

My 75mg tabs are instant release and I take them all in the morning because I do get the slight stimulant effect from them. It works as an appetite suppressant for me, which is nice as I need to lose some weight. I have lost about 18 pounds and need to lose 20 more. Because of my substance abuse history, wellbutrin almost make me feel guilty because it is a "happy pill" of sorts. But it makes me better able to function instead of less. And it makes me less likely to drink or use.

maybe it is time to take something to hold mania in check--if it is affecting you at work, that is concerning. Be sure to tell your doc
