i wanted to come back to this topic without the controversial term involving 'character xxxx'. My judgement is not as bad as when I've been severely ill but I am impulsive at times or simply not able to see the right decision, even if I think about it.

I've done things even recently I'm just appalled by. Even some of my instantaneous driving decisions recently have scared me in retrospect.

I wonder if making bad decisions, just like making good decisions can be habit forming. My one great hope for the new year is to make healthy, sane decisions.

I relate to this. I have developed bad patterns or vices that get the worst of me, leading to poor decisions. It is especially bad when manic, but I have my moments when I am not manic as well.

I also feel that this year, it should be part of my New Year's resolutions to make better decisions.

I make impulsive bad decisions. I'm notorious for it. I have (at the request of my husband and advice of my therapist) a 24 hour rule now. I have to wait 24 hours before I can act on an impulse. My therapist is also teaching me positive coping mechanisms. I believe you can change the pattern of bad habits if you work at it.

I’m with you on the bad decisions. For me I think a lot of it has become habit/lazy thinking that I let become a pattern even in times of wellness. Something to work on for sure. The 24hour rule and mindfulness while driving are a good start.

I have severely poor judgment too. It is hard to know whether or not I am making a good decision when there is nobody who will listen to me. So, I make poor decisions, and it has cost me dearly.
