So their may be an opportunity to move to a better seniority roll in the night shift. I hear a lot of negative things about night shift and mental illness. I know I’m a night owl and would spend tons of time awake st night and still do. What are your thoughts?

Working the night shift would seriously mess with my stability.

How about this:
How are you doing in your current role? Do you like the time you start and finish your day? Also, what do you do when you're awake at night? |

Is there an opportunity for you to try it out? If you are a night owl anyway, it may suit you.

If you've done it before, enjoyed it and if you are a night owl anyway, I'd say go for it!

Only thing is to try it. But best you have a backup plan with your supervisors

Just set a regular time to sleep whether it's am or afternoon and stick to that sleeping schedule.

If you’re the type that is fairly stable, then I guess it might be OK.
Weigh out the chances of you becoming unstable, any job dangers, how your employer would react. Are they big enough to let you take time off if you need it, hold your job for you? Could you go back to day shift? Are you still really a night owl? Will this impact your social life outside work? Anything in your gut telling you not to? |

If you are a night owl anyway, why not? Good luck.

There's always provigil/nuvigil to help balance your sleep patterns if you are doing shift work if you need it. Not to say another med is the solution to everything but it can help you get through a transition. Would you be happier on a shift without the woman who causes you so much pain?
