Hi All!
Wondering if anyone has had success with Abilify? I was recently diagnosed as being on the "mood spectrum", as the NP said. Started on Lamictal and experienced extreme side effects including throwing me into a depression unlike I have ever felt before. I'm now switched to low dose Abilify and Fluoxetine. Only Day 2, so I'm trying to have some hope to get out of this low state I've been in.

By the way, is insomnia normal with mood stabilizers? I can't sleep past 6 AM anymore UGH.

Here's to the hope for a better day today!

Thanks all!

I’m on 20 mg of Abilify and it helped me get off four other medications. It has helped me achieve stability for the first time in years although I understand it doesn’t work for everyone. Good luck!!!

I am on 6 mg of Abilify as an adjunct to citalopram and Wellbutrin. I have had good luck with the Abilify. I hope you benefit from taking it, too.

Maxed out at 30mg, then got rid of it. It helped my depression at first, but then it pooped out on me.

I'm on rexulti now, which is a slightly different formulation of abilify. It's working well... so far. No poop outs

So fyi... if abilify works but poops out, rexulti is another option

I was weaned off my citalopram, so that was another factor into putting me into a depression. Fluoxetine has worked great for my grandpa, so I'm hoping it will for me too. I need my serotonin lol.

Abilify has been a godsend for me. I started taking it (15 mg) about 2 and a half years ago and haven't had a major episode since. I also haven't had side effects -that I know of (the side effects from the Seroquel I take are so intense that they could mask side effects from other meds). I strongly recommend it, but of course everyone is different, everyone reacts to meds differently.

I am on 30mg and it has really helped with the mood swings. I take a bunch of other medications but I didn't start feeling better until I got on the abilify.

I tried abilify when I was younger, it affected me pretty poorly. I started pacing and getting very agitated, even some auditory hallucinations. I hear that a lot of people have good things to say about it. I wish you the best and I hope it gives you the relief you need. Lamictal react well with me though so that might mean our chemistries are different so maybe nothing to even worry about.

It made my brain feel like it was internally twitching.... I am pretty sure it was ... All pysch meds effect our chemistry of course.

I hope it helps you and you have no problematic side effects

Welcome to PC

If you do a search on the PC site, you'll find other answers that might give you more clarity. My experiences with Abilify gave been varied, There was a time when I was on 30mg. per day, but am now on ten. Everyone is different. Be patient. Good luck, & welcome - I see you're pretty new to PC.

Both my husband and son are on abilify. So was I each at different doses. It works well when taken, no side effects. I had to switch after my insurance denied to give me the shot anymore. My husband takes 10 mg. My son takes 5 mg.
