Anyone on this? My son just got a rx for it and I was wondering if anyone here has had experience with this drug. Also called lexapro.

Cipralex made me go a bit too "high" several years ago so I stopped taking it. At the moment I'm on celexa and it works well for me, but everyone is different. I hope this medication works well for your son.

As a side note, does your son exercise? I definitely am helped by my anti-depressant but I am equally helped by regular exercise. It can make a huge difference in several mental illnesses, including depression and anxiety. Even walking is great for you.

Antidepressants made me manic...so...my new Bipolar diagnosis.
Have you tried posting on the Depression or Psychiatric Medications forums? I've talked to a lot of people who really love Lexapro. But it's hard to wean off of if someone gets the idea they want to.

I was in a mixed state when I tried it. I didn't have a bipolar diagnosis at the time, so no mood stabilizer, AP, etc.

Welp, 2 weeks after being on it, I went totally manic.

I'm still on the med, but that's because I can't get off it! I get severely depressed and suicidal every time I try to go off. EVERY TIME. Tried 3 times in the span of 1.5 years... Still can't get off it.

My pdoc actually took me OFF the lexapro when he found it made me manic, and that just made the crash EVEN WORSE. Had to go back on it ASAP. (Though sometimes I wonder if I should have just said 'no' to going back on it... because the withdrawal each time gets worse and worse.)

So anyway, now I take a subtherapuetic dose with a mood stabilizer and AP. Even the subtherapuetic dose helps a bit, but I still would like to be off it.
