I would like to meet peers who have Bipolar Disorder.

I live in the 3rd largest city in the US, yet NAMI and DBSA combined only have 10-20 people attending support group meetings (only a handful with Bipolar Disorder). Where is everyone?

Thank you.

we've all been playing a big game of hide and seek in the forest.

lol i'm joking... welcome to PC, and especially the bipolar section.

I have it, as do a lot of people that post in this forum, so all ready you met loads of us (or not in real life, but virtually)

my suggestion for now is just to post here, get involved, make a few friends if you fancy that.. we're really friendly and don't bite

Hi Weslu,

I used to live in Chi-town and attended two different bipolar/depression meetings there. They were a help, but now live in the Pac NW and have not attended a meeting out here.

I go to Gamblers Anonymous now and while I have no idea if people are bipolar, everyone struggles with mental health issues in the group.

Welcome to PC, its awesome here!

Hi, Weslu! Welcome to PC...we're mostly all Bipolar on this forum. I live in a very rural area with no psych services...so this is my go-to place.

Wow, I live in the PacNW and there are so many of us in the DBSA group I go to that I feel bad that we're crowding out the people with "normal" depression. There are also multiple DBSA meetings here.

DBSA also does online support groups, I tried one once to see what it was like for rural friends, but have been too overwhelmed to go back since. I'm good at going to my one group a week though, it's a relief to have people who get it on some level, even if most of them do not have ultrarapid cycling.

Hey Chicago! I'm here. I don't know where they hang out probably hide out is more like it not everyone wants to disclose. I've met one person with schizoaffective off pc after talking on here a while....it so happened she was picking up a masters at the same university I was doing research at. Anyway feel free to PM me. I'm not really symptomatic though, my meds work well, so not sure how helpful I'd be if you want to talk symptoms.
