I just had my abilify dosage increased from 20mg to 30mg. Now I feel really blah no personality whatsoever. Any one else in the same boat?

been there. abilify was/is kind of unusual, for me. i tolerate it without the twitches and akathisia i got from other tranquilizers, but...at 30mgs, it obliterated a lot of my personality.
ive managed to get the dose down to 20mgs, and that's made a -big- difference. im still getting the benefits of a tranquilizer, but i have more energy and personality, etc. |

I am going to see about going back down to 20. I can't believe how much stronger 30mgs is. For me way stronger than 20mg of zyprexa.

My old pdoc had me on 30mg for several years, but my new pdoc was amazed that I was on such a high dose; I saw him yesterday & he raised my dose from 5mg to 10mg because I've been feeling very mixed. My new pdoc's philosophy is that you raise the level of an AP when feeling mixed, or manic, but lower it, or even eliminate it when you don't need it (I take Abilify as an AP). On these lower doses I feel like I "feel more." If I start feeling out of sorts, he simply raises the dose a bit. The pdoc said the first time I saw him I looked pretty out of it..."nobody home" kind of thing. Not to scare you (& I'm certainly no pdoc), but I developed a bit of shaking & twitching in my pinkie & ring fingers on my left hand while on the high doses...these symptoms are pretty much permanent, but have lessened since going on a lower dose. My pdoc trusts my instincts & adheres to the philosophy that sometimes less is more as far as meds go. YMMV...
