I like the lights to.

I realized tonight, on my way home from yoga, that this is going to be a lot harder than I thought. I saw 2 houses with lights up already. I kind of freaked out a little and went into the whole "presents, lights, too many people" panic for about 10 seconds. I know those are all things that I don't need to worry about, but that 10 seconds was really hard, especially because I was driving. I knew if I pulled over the cops in the speed trap ahead would come over and I didn't need that stressor in top of it, so I held my breath for 5 seconds and gave it enough throttle so they wouldn't pull me over but getting away as quickly as possible, about 9mph over the limit. Crap! They pulled out. What I hadn't noticed was the car that had been with me pulling through the stop light at 55 was about 1/8 mile ahead. They were after them. I was safe. I backed off and let it idle down some. I was ok. I'd almost forgotten about this all, until I saw someone else post about outside decorations.
If I remember that this holiday is out to get those that want it to get to them, and not me, I think I can make it.

No, I was very muchly freaked out for a bit. I saw as I passed them that it was a county unit and they could have gone 150 yards more and been out of jurisdiction. You know the guy in the other car from Tennessee was cussing when he saw that county sign up ahead after he'd already stopped.

Even if they shine their lights and sound their siren they can go beyond county lines.

They can, but then they have to go to court in a different county, and it takes waiting for another officer in-jurisdiction to come or a judge's warrant. They have to bring their evidence to court, which requires clearance from their supervisor and several other nasty bits of red tape. It's really a hassle for them and they generally don't do that here unless it's really an emergency. I hardly think roughly 70 in a 55 on an uncrowded 4-lane road is going to be worth it to them.
I always take every ticket to court. They make me pay court costs regardless, I'm going to get to see em in action.
