Zyprexa can be like a freight train of inability to doing or thinking about much.

I took it for about 6 months I gained 35 lbs and dropped my IQ by 40 points lol

Lithium ? First med made specifically for Bipolar , that didn’t have me stuck anywhere.

Did your Pdoc put you on them both at the same time ?

What Christina said above. Zyprexa made me non functional. I fell asleep on my brother-in-laws shoulder at my daughters baptism party. Right there in the middle of the room, snoozing on his shoulder. So zyprexa knocks me out. Lithium is a wonder med I’ve never felt sedated or stuck while on it. I occasionally get words sort of get stuck on the way out or having to mentally search for a word or phrase, but those are really the only side effects I get from lithium. The benefits far outweigh these small drawbacks for me.

Most of the Atypicals have a zombie effect,, with the exception of Seroquel XR. After getting to dose, sleepiness went away. Gaining weight is just part of the gambit for any psych med. Lithium causes me to get dry mouth, shaking in my hands and leaves me with a metallic taste in my mouth all the time.

I take 1800mg of Lithium for about 5 years and never felt like that. I've never taken Zyprexa, but no many who do and they always seem off and just zoned out a majority of the time. The ones that take the Zyprexa shot complain less about that feeling though.

Zyprexa was great for my bipolar symptoms but it tends to suk the life out of you. It's also rough on your blood sugar.

Same experience with Zyprexa - took bipolar symptoms out of the equation, also took my IQ, motivation, and normal blood sugar levels with it.
