Lithium ER seemed to be weight neutral during the 6 years I took it. Sometimes I was on another medication that was not so weight friendly, but when that less weight friendly medication's dose was lowered or it was eliminated my weight tended to stay stable.

I actually lost almost 40 lbs in the past on the combination of Lithium ER, Geodon, Lamictal, and another weight friendly med. Of course I had to diet to lose the weight, but the dieting was not too hard. I don't believe Lithium ER ever increased my appetite for food in any major way. The only consumption it increased in me was liquid consumption. I was thisty all of the time. I think that if you stick with water and other low or no calorie beverages, then there may not be a major problem. Some people say they put on a little water weight. I'm not quite sure what happens to those that say Lithium did increase their weight in any significant way.

I gained at least 20lbs on lithium. Not sure why, it was so long ago that I don’t remember.

Lithium was also weight neutral for me but I was never on a full therapeutic dose because of significant tremors.

When I first started Lithium Carbonate I gained a good forty + lbs. This question has been posted several times over the years. You can lose the weight with hard work.

I put on sixty pounds the first time on lithium. The second time was thirty pounds and the last was twenty pounds. It works great for mania for me but it’s too unhealthy for me to weigh so much. Just a side note to try to get a smile... lithium makes me uncontrollably crave peanut butter. So most of that weight gain was peanut butter induced.
