Over the past months, my doc and I have been slowly decreasing my Latuda dosage. I started at 80mg, and as of today I am down to 20mg.

During this time I have noticed absolutely no change in my symptoms. Stable as a rock through it all. If anything there’s been a slight uptick in my expressiveness and lowering of emotional flatness. But hardly any, if at all - might be just in my head. Zero depression, zero mania.

I’m beginning to suspect that Latuda helped me years ago while in an acute depressive episode, but in reality I don’t think it’s doing a thing for me now. The only way to know for sure is to go to zero, and that will probably come next month.

Anyone here have experiences coming off Latuda entirely? Any withdrawal or improvement of symptoms after stopping? I’m not cross-titrating with another med, just slowly on my way to zero. Hopefully it’ll continue to go well.

Mine's an exception case, but I'm throwing it in anyway. I took it for about 4.5 months. I started to have the "life threatening" NMS symptoms they warn you of and stopped it cold. I was not able to think at all on it! I couldn't remember anything. I drove about 80 miles one day and had no memory of it in the least. The main difference I noticed aside from the ability to think coming back was a reduction in depression, and no mania. I think in having the severe confusion it caused I'd also become chemically depressed. Once that lifted and it cleared my system, I started feeling much better.
I am the king of black box warning symptoms. Eventually, most most meds will do that to me or cease working. Abilify took 8 years. Most other bipolar meds happened within a couple months.

I'm on eighty and wondering if I need it anymore so I'm interested in seeing the replies.

I was on 80mg. I just stopped taking it cold turkey and had zero withdrawal which makes me feel it wasn't doing anything anyway.

I was on 120mg Geodon, a medication in the same class as Latuda, until about 3 and a half weeks ago. I am also now more expressive and less "flat". Unfortunately, my sleep quantity and quality has decreased somewhat. It's been worth it for me so far, time will tell if that will continue.

It’s great to hear that others haven’t had issues with withdrawal. My doc is really conservative, Hence the slow titration schedule. I both like and hate that. I like the fact that he’s careful, but I’m pretty impatient and want results NOW! Dropping Latuda - Any Experiences? At least I haven’t felt a difference thus far.

Had to drop down from 40mg to 20mg. Brain was bit frenetic. See what happens...

I've been on more of my fair share of Atypicals, but Seroquel XR (mania) and Latuda (depression) are probably the best I've been on. Be interested to see the results on Vraylar. It is supposed to be designed for Bipolar Depression too....

I had a rebound hypomanic episode. However, it actually included some euphoric hypomania this time, which was actually a bit of a bonus as I usefully get dysphoric hypomania. Although my wife looked at me weird when I talked about seeing the energy fields around trees

Anyway, it only lasted 5 days.
Thanks for this!

Do you take anything for it?

I was on Latuda for over a year. It was initially helpful with severe depression at 20 mg, then 40 mg and finally 60 mg. At 80 mg, I was too sedated. Once it had "pooped out,", I had dropped it at a rapid pace of -20 mg. per day with no withdrawal effects. My blunted affect went away, too.

Best wishes to you.

I was on latuda a couple years ago and I didn't really notice a difference in how I felt so I went off it. I didn't go off it slowly. I think it took about a week to get to 0 mg. I didn't notice any withdrawal effects going off it.

Actually, no, because I was quite happy to have some euphoriaDropping Latuda - Any Experiences? I'd been taking the Latuda to help with the depressed side of my BP2 and it wasn't doing much so we stopped. Unfortunately I'm back to depressed now.

I had a very prominent doctor tell me that Latuda doesn't really work for type 2, that the effect was probably a placebo effect. I don't know whether he's right or not but hmmm...
