I have a question about insurance for BP meds... (U.S. only)

BP meds and insurance? I don't understand

Why do I have stuff on my receipt that says HRA (Health Reimbursement Account) and FSA (Flexible Savings Account)? I don't have an FSA. I signed up for a copay plan and my insurance card certainly didn't change... so why am I seeing HRA and FSA on my BP meds?

I see "FSA RX" next to all of my prescription identifications.

BP meds and insurance? I don't understand

Do I need to contact someone about this? My insurance card DEFINITELY says copay. I'm looking at the card right now.

You're asking the wrong person. I live in Canada and we are on social assistance so everything is totally covered. All appointments, meds, dental, optometrist... everything. My meds alone cost a lot of money. When I was on invega and latuda, along with other meds, my bill would have been $3500 a month... crazy!

I would guess it's just routine with Walgreens and so they mark it 0 when it's not applicable. Keeps them from having to design new receipts for different situations.

I would definitely ask Walgreen's for an explanation of their receipt.

I believe it is just saying what items are FSA eligible. It is not talking about your particular situation because they don’t know if you have an FSA or not. It is just a generic receipt.

I use Walgreens and have an FSA. They automatically split the bill between qualifying and non qualifying items, so I can charge the qualifying items to my FSA card (which they have on file) and then pay for other stuff with my debit card. It's all on one receipt even though there are two sources of payment. They do a good job documenting it for the FSA account; I don't have to file any paperwork like I do for some FSA charges I make other places.
