So since I'm going to be alone for so long, would it be worth it to hire a CNA to come check on me and get my meds ready for the week and stuff? I have this irrational fear that I'm going to die and the dogs are going to eat me. I'm just thinking a few hours a week. My friend said she'd check on me if she didn't hear from me for a few days. I just worry. bah.

Definitely if you can afford a CNA (I'm not sure what that is) or arrange another person to look in on and help you, that would be great! I understand that need. I'd probably want the same support if I was alone for a long time in a less than perfect mental state.

It makes sense to have someone checking in with you.

I would definitely arrange something like that, or if possible and even better, create that kind of supportive environment you would get from a cna on your own with friends and family taking the place of cna. This can be phone calls, texts, emails, etc. In general you'll want to invest in it too, by having as much structure as possible. So, consistent meal times, chores time, hygiene time, and most important, consistent bed time and awake time. (and med times are just as important).

Regarding meds, a lot of places now do bubble packs, so you don't have to sort things out and fill a weekly box. That can be stressful and can create worry. A bubble pack can reduce or eliminate those things so you have time for things you enjoy and are good for you. If your pharmacy doesn't have this, do call around. If no luck still, try finding a pharmacy on-line that will send you a monthly pack.

I just looked back at your post and realized you said 'since I'm going to be along for so long"...How long will this be for and how have things normally been for you? Keep us updated. That can be part of your structure/support as well.

Hope this might have helped some,

My husband will be gone till november. I do fine when he's gone I just want to have all bases covered. I'm really good with med times. Sleep is a crap shoot though. Other things not so well. I found someone that will do light meal prep, light cleaning, take the trash outside, laundry, and help with personal care and they cost $15 an hour. It would be a big help. I could do 3-5 hrs a week. They could probably take me to drs appointments if i have to get a shot or something where I can't drive. I think it would work out. I can do most things, but I'm so worried about hurting my back while my husband is out of town.

Just make sure you use a agency that is bonded and insured.

I think it would give you piece of mind.

Christina - I found them on care.com. Agencies are way too expensive and I don't have that kind of money. I looked into it in 2015. TBH I'm not worried about it, they have experience with all age ranges and a lot of diff things. If I wanted to I'm sure I could go around the corner and post a flyer and get someone cheaper, but not sure they'd speak english. :P I don't need a lot of help just some.
