My Nurse (CPN) is retiring in March. He just informed me today. Says it's a phased retirement ie working 4 days 3 days etc. I have another appointment with him end if Feb. I'm stressing out and have been crying. He's like my life line. He says I'm probably going to have to be discharged as there isn't enough staff to cover. But says I'm top of the list to get another nurse. I'm really unsure about this. I've had him since I was diagnosed. Says it's good I'm still seeing my community worker as she'll be able to see me when he can't or when I don't have a CPN. Says if I need anything at all I'm to call and if he can't see me someone from on call duty and crisis team will see me. I'm back on meds been off them for 2 months... but I'm struggling with most things.

Anyways just needed to get off my chest

I am so sorry Laura. If I lost anyone from my support team I would be very upset as well. I hope it all works out for you. Big hugs.

Oh my! I was very grateful for my handover being so smooth. I'd already worked with my current provider when my prior one said he was finally going to retire. He wanted me to see him then the current one and back and forth but I told him he didn't need to keep doing that, flying in once a month for the couple of patients he had left. He was losing money to not upset patients. I switched over easily.
I hope something good happens and you can get the same treatment

Wishing you the best during your transition period. I'm in a similar situation right now with my therapist. My psychiatrist is likely not retiring, but moving locations. His new location will surely be reachable for me, but even a new office feels like a stressful change, especially as I transition to a new therapist.

My psychiatrist changed offices 3 times. It didn't seem to make any difference. I think you'll do fine with that. I hope so anyway.
The therapist. I get much I don't like about one and get another. Fired two in 9 months. One wasn't active. The other wasn't ever available, like get an appointment now for two months from now, don't have a problem and need a sooner appointment, because you're not going to get it

Spoke to my worker today whom I got through my CPN. She says if he discharges me ill lose her too as she works under the nurse. I can't lose them both. I'll be left with a psychiatrist who I only see every 6 months. I'm not ready for no support. I've had my CPN for 7 years and my worker for 4 years. They are saying I'm probably not going to lose out bit instead of seeing CPN monthly I would see s/he every 3-4 months. I'll find out more in a months time. Also there are 6 nurses retiring in the centre which means over 50 patients have to either be delegated or discharged

Go like stink on getting another ASAP, please. You'll be literally competing for a new psych team. Start with the pdoc and work with them to get a therapist.
I hate to sound so urgent, but it's the beginning of the year, insurances have been changed, and people decide to finally do something about ______(insert anything negative in anyone's life here).

This happened to me only that mu CPN left to become a therapist, I lost my CPN, Support worker and therapist in the space of 2 weeks, I was told that I wouldn't be getting another CPN because of cuts. I only have my Psychiatrist now who I am supposed to see every 3 months but my appointments seem to be 5-6 months.

In the UK your allocated a psychiatrist etc. We don't need to worry about insurances etc. Thanks

That's what I am worried about. I'm hoping to keep my worker but who knows

That sounds kind of nice, as long as everyone does their job. Are you allowed to say "this one's not helping me, is like another" to switch?
