As some of you know, I got really compulsive when I got my ssi backpay, which just to let you know I didnt buy heroin and didnt spend it unwisely. I would never do heroin, it was like a 2 minute compulsive thought. But ive noticed Geodon has made me compulsive, anxious, and unpredictable since i started it. I take it, feel calm, then 6 hours later feel anxious and suddenly want to take the dog out on another walk, then want to take a second shower that day, then change my mind
Then 15 minutes later change my mind again. Then when i take my supper dose im fine again. Then in the morning, crazy again. After cutting the dose from 40mg 2x day to 20mg 2x day, I feel much better. But I really cant stand the weirdness i feel after it wears off suddenly after 6 or 7 hours. Its like suddenly i need an ativan. Someone please help me out here. Any geodon experiences???

I was on geodon for about a year. It was a nightmare. It caused me massive dystonia and anxiety. After taking it, I would also become extremely sleepy then feel anxious then have dystonia. I hated that medication. I was happy to have success with Abilify although initially it also caused me insomnia, anxiety, and psychosis. It took about 3 months before I had some positive benefits from Abilify. I stuck it out with Abilify because I did not want to go back on Geodon and am glad I did. I have been on it continually for the past 5 years now and have not been hospitalized during this time. I have some drooling and muscle aches but this is about it. I also went off Abilify before and ended up in the hospital each time I went off. I finally realized daily compliance is the key to stability. I am now working, living independently, and am happy. Best Wishes!

I've been on Geodon for years. I have no adverse side effects except for dystonia. But I get that with every AP I take. I have a good side effect med that helps a lot. Best of luck to you.

Geodon turned out to be not enough for me to control my mania, even at 160 mg per day (80 mg in morn and 80 mg at dinner). I had to also take a second antipsychotic with it on top of my Tegretol XR. Geodon was side effect friendly for me for years until the 5.5 year mark when I started to suffer from nasty akathisia. I was eventually taken off Geodon and my Seroquel XR raised. I'm doing great now.

Hmm .. when I was on Geodon it made me really anxious and made my eyes roll back unintentionally, so it’s something I will NEVER take again. It could possibly be making you manic, I would talk to the DR about it and see if there is something else you can try.

I was on it , didn’t help but when I stopped taking it I went through hellish withdrawals. I was sick for just over a week. I have no idea what happened on most days , my husband filled me in and took my car keys thankfully

I have been on many, many meds over the decades. Geodon was the worst one I've ever taken. When I was awake I felt sleepy; when I tried to sleep I was wired. Also, I felt just very weird on Geodon, not myself at all.

I was put on Geodon in the hospital once. I wasn't doing too great to begin with, but I noticed some changes right away. It made me extremely anxious as well. I was jittery and such. It also really messed up my vision. Like really really blurred compared to other blurriness I've had from other meds. Also made me dizzy. Thankfully the nurses noticed and made me sit down and called the doctor in and I was taken off it after like 2 days.
