Anyone ever had lithium toxicity and have blurry vision? If so, did it get any better after getting off lithium?

Yes I had it. When my lithium dosage was lowered it went away.

I don't remember anything from lithium (first bipolar med 13 years ago) beyond everything feeling really bad, not feeling in control at all, and gaining massive amounts of weight after it killed my thyroid. This was in the span of a few months. About ninety pounds. The clarity didn't come back until 3 different meds later and a much better pdoc decided to check my thyroid hormones and got me on meds for that.
You are getting regular full panel blood tests?

I've had lithium toxicity a few times. They mostly consisted of blurry vision and hand tremors. My doctor decreased my dosage a bit to see if that would help. He didn't want to jump too far down because it's one of the best meds I'm on. We got to a good point and my levels were fine and all of my side effects went away.

My vision would get blurry if I started towards toxic. I just cut back my dose , my Pdoc was fine with it but I decided it just wasn’t a safe enough drug for me, I like my kidneys and working thyroid.

I’ve been on Lithium for six years but I have never had toxic levels. I get my levels checked regularly.

How often do you check?

I was on lithium for about 5 months and didn't feel well on it at all. Had miserable hot flashes and frequent blurry vision. I finally couldn't live with how bad I felt, so I stopped taking the lithium. I feel much better and the blurry vision went away quickly.

Glad to hear you’re doing better. I had other side effects from Lithium that I couldn’t tolerate.

The only issue I’ve had with blurred/double vision was on a higher dose of Lamictal.

FYI, looking at your signature. Monster has inositol in it which my p-doc prescribes for nervous system health and anxiety.

Quote:
Inositol
Energy Drinks include this ingredient because it aids with the nervous system and serotonin modulation. High doses of inositol have also been given to patients with certain psychiatric conditions because of the positive effect on the nervous system.
The more you know...

Yes this happened to me. It was terrifying! It went away with a lowered dose of lithium and lots more water consumption.
