manic on low dose zyprexa?

I wonder if any of you have gone hypomanic after adding zyprexa low dose 2.5mg to your cocktail of meds?

I have never experienced that but anything is possible.

I just started zyprexa last week and so far no hypomania. I believe I’m on a higher dose than that though

It's possible 5mg energized me.

I take 5mg of Zyprexa in the evening. It's supposed to help with anxiety and sleep. No side effects so far. It's been 5 months at least.

Something I would rather forget. I was on Zyprexa 5mg for almost 10 years. I guess all the drinking didn't help. But now I have other health problems. When I used to take it, all I wanted to do is NOTHING.

It may not be zyprexa causing mania but rather just not preventing it and the mania is your natural cycle at work. Unless you noticed it come on fairly soon after you started taking it. Then it could be the zyprexa, although that would be unusual. But of course, nothing is impossible.

Also, 200mg of Lamictal *should* prevent swinging into manic episodes. Maybe you need more? Talk to your doc.

I was taking everything in my signature line before the zyprexa. I had been drinking alot often sneaking etc....and could not control my drinking.
My weight was 186, female.
So I had heard that bipolarRN was on zyprexa also and was losing weight.
So I asked my pdoc to add 5mg of zyprexa to my meds. She agreed to 2.5mg.
My thinking was if I could get more stable than I would be able to control my drinking and lose weight.
She was leary of this because she gives young girls 2.5mg of zyprexa who are anorexic to GAIN weight.
Almost instantly I have control of my drinking...only drank one time in 58 days. and have lost 15 pounds in 9 weeks.
So I feel so much more in control.
I am house hunting....feels pressured though.
hubby doesn't want to move.
We live in a 50 year old house and can't afford to fix it up.
So I want a 10 year old house that we can grow old together.
I got so angry with him that I threatened to do this on my own. That is what it took inorder for him to get it. I do want to stay married to him...for awhile though I did not want to.
This is the impulsive/manipulative side of me.
anyway, we are looking at 3 houses in the neighborhood that I would like to live by my friend, tomorrow. and 2 more after that.
