I posted a comment about this but thought I might gather the ideas of others.

When it comes to your decision making, is it second guessed by those in your life? Do they make the assumption that your thinking has been rash? Do they automatically assume it is an indication of mania? Do they ignore the fact that if they were to make the same decision it would be considered perfectly normal?

Yes! I get second guessing a lot. It makes me so frustrated. Not everything I feel and do are related to me being bipolar. It's sometimes hard to get my husband and family to realize that. A lot of things questioned by them and criticized for no other reason.

I second guess myself in everything I do -- that my own personal problem I guess, but yes, I often get a reaction that any action must be "ridiculous" or rash if I don't get the OK of specific people.

I second guess quite a bit, but a lot of it seems to be more like a reality check.

I get a lot of criticism because it’s so difficult for me to make a decision.

I don’t get second guessed. I’m pretty sensible when I’m stable
I can honestly say I only come up with ridiculous ideas when I’m unwell.
Thanks for this!

I get second guessed by my wife some. It’s not excessive, but it’s not pleasant either.

I appreciate the answers.

I have wondered if I just don't tell them until after the fact.

I am sick of justifying myself - and being talked out of things important to me. One example is kayaking. I sold the second one so this is a venture I now do alone. Not everyone has two kayaks as I used to. Going solo is pretty much what people do. Why is it such a big deal if I choose to do so? But no, I am 'risking my life' so I must be manic.

I have a big purchase. I have thought it out a great deal. It is a practical decision. It will improve my daily life and give me a sense of independence I haven't had in seven years. But I just know that family won't see it that way.
