Yes. I was tested and was really low years ago so I took a really high dose weekly for 3 months or so and now I take 2000mg per day and am in the normal range. It gives me energy.

My psych meds cause easy sunburns so I stay inside a lot and don't get enough sun exposure. The pills make up for that.

It does make a difference. I was vit. D deficient (who in the Pac NW isn't??) and started supplementing with 4000IU Vit. D last year. I haven't had my usual seasonal depression this winter and think it has something to do with the increase in my D levels. This is the first year in probably three decades that I haven't experienced SAD.

I started 5000iu a day about 9 months ago after wellbutrin turned me into an all of paranoia. Normally I get depressed through winter because December is the anniversary of my son's death and it just hits me. This year, with vitamin d, was the first time in 14 years that I was actually happy around Christmas. I haven't had a depression last more than a few days whereas before they could go for 6 months or more. I did it under the direction of my psych nurse and I love it.

I'm allergic to it. When I was taking it I had what I thought were seasonal allergies and had to be on 3 allergy meds. Came off of Vit D and the allergy symptoms went away. Talk about 7 months of hell.

I take 2000 IU a day. My husband takes more. I don't think my moods changed much. We're indoors most of the time (we both overheat easily and have sensitive skin) so the extra D is good, plus most of the people around here have a Vit D deficiency anyway.

For whatever reason my body doesn’t process Vit D. So I’ve been taking a supplement twice a day for the last 10 years. I was diagnosed with bipolar 3.5 years ago.

Take it every morning. At my age, sunrays are not enough to fight bad cholesterol.
The UV rays don't penetrate enough to transform bad cholesterol into good. Unless I'm in the sun all day.
