I saw a new pdoc yesterday (a couple days earlier because I was not sleeping and slipping into hypomania). With my BP, once the sleep goes, everything afterwards just deteriorates toward hypomania and then full-blown mania. I had had approx. 5 hours of sleep in 2 days.

The pdoc gave me something else for sleep, a new anxiety med to add to the clonazempam, and upped my Lamictal.

Last night, I fell asleep at 6:30. I woke shortly before 4 AM this morning. OMG, what a relief! I tend to like how I feel when hypomanic, but I hate the lack of sleep because I know how dangerous it is. I have a degree in Microbiology, an M.S. in Cell & Biology body. In school, I took a lot of the courses taken by pre-med or MD/PhD students. Not to mention, I am not a good driver until normal circumstances, and I am a definite danger when manic, taking risky driving moves.

I'm happy I don't feel hung over this morning, the way I do on Trazodone. I am hoping & praying the meds continue to help my sleep, and the hypomania can get closer to my "normal" level.

I have to see the pdoc again next week, so he can assess how well the changes are working. Lack of sleep is the biggie leading up to mania for me, and I just wanted to curb it before I wound up in the psych hospital, which I definitely cannot afford.

I am glad the med helped you to get some sleep.
