My son was put on this for insomnia. Has it helped anyone here? I don't know much about it. I looked it up, but would like to hear your take on it.

I tried it but could not take it.
It dried me out and plugged up my nose so I had to breath out of my mouth at night and did not sleep. Plus I believe it contributed to a mania.
Having just said this, I spoke with one of my clients yesterday about this med and he loved it. It worked like a charm, no problems he took 50 mg.

It works for me at times. Over the summer when combined with depakote it finally knocked me out after weeks of not sleeping. But then in the fall it didn’t work, not even 200mg. So it goes back and forth for me.

It doesn’t leave me with a hangover though unless I take too much. That I appreciate.

I've taken it on an emergency basis while in hospital and it really helped a lot with sleep.

The very first few times I took it, in the hospital, it seemed powerful, but since then it's never done a single thing even at doses up to 200mg.

It was good for a while. For sleeping and believe or not, libido.
Can't have too much of a good thing, so I started increasing the dose.
This went on for like a year. Good sleep. Better sex.
I moved to a house that needed updating big time. Working hard during the day,
sleeping a little less. More trazodone.
Next week, same story. Yes, you guessed.
It came to a point I was taking 400mg and all I felt was a heavy duty hangover in the morning.
500mg. I was a true believer.
Waking up felt like someone hit me with a 38 baseball bat.
Stopped it cold turkey, and the sweats and hunger at night were inmesurable.
Never again did anything for me. But the libido was still there.
I felt like 40. When I stopped, returned to 65. But found new methods, and pills.
Good luck.

I'm taking it right now, sorta. It helps me sleep a whole 5 hours a night, which is better than without, but I also feel wicked tired until late afternoon the next day. I think I do better not sleeping without it to be honest. I can take up to 150mg a night.

It did help me, not to fall asleep, but to stay asleep. Unfortunately, it does leave a tired, hungover feeling the next morning, worse the higher the dose. I remember waking at 7 AM on it but not really feeling awake until 3 or 4 PM.

Good news is I don't think I had to taper off it.

I've tried it twice. It didn't work either time.

I took for a long time for sleep, I think I was at 200mg. I was having mixed episodes, so we decided to stop it, I cant say it was helping with sleep towards the end. It is an antidepressant so the doc said it may have been causing the mixed episodes.

I use it successfully for sleep. I was on it every day but am trying to now only take it as needed. It does leave me feeling groggy but it’s the most restful sleep I’ve had in years.

It’s a wonder drug for insomnia.

I’ve been taking the 150mg tablet for twelve-years and I’m rewarded with sleep — usually what I think of restful sleep — the entire time.

I took both Trazadone and ambien for years but I had a bizarre reaction taking ambien. I’m back to Trazadone only and it’s great.
