Anyone ever take this? Supposed to help with not only bipolar but anxiety. Not sure I like it from reading the side effects and warnings.

I do. 7.5mg at night. I don't believe it does anything. I still have bouts of intense anxiety almost daily. But, you know, everyone is different. I'm going down to 5mg then switching to SSRI next week. Yeah, the bad part is that it increases sugars in blood and cause weight gain so I'll be happy to be off of it.

What Zigy said. I note you have a picture of Batman with a big belly. Well, Zyprexa turned me from Batman into "Fatman." Two years later, I'm still trying to take off the weight I put on while taking it. It was effective, but I think there might be better choices...though your mileage may vary.

I used to take 30mg a day (10 in the morning, 10 in the afternoon, and 10 in the evening). It helped a lot and I didn't experience any immediate side effects but my doctor took me off it after I stabilized because he was afraid of what side effects he couldn't see.

I used to take it with Lamictal, but was switched with something else when I was in IP.

I gained weight on it and it also prolonged my QT heart rhythm as well. I had to have EKGs done every six months or so. It increased my cholesterol and blood sugar.

The silver lining is that it calmed me down super fast, faster than benzos even.

I would try gabapentin for anxiety first before making that kind of leap.

There is another active thread on gabapentin right now in this bipolar forum.

If your existing cocktail is not working for bipolar, that is another thing.

I ate until my stomach felt it would burst on Zyprexa, and I still wanted to eat more. There is nothing better to shoot me out of the manic sky, though.

I like lithium for bipolar and anxiety. I had a noticeable drop in anxiety from lithium and a big lift out of depression. I love lithium.

Zyprexa made me want to eat my sofa.. Weight gain of probably 15 lbs in a month. I was eating ALL THE TIME .. ugh I was eating frozen cake frosting.

I know a few people that dont have the chronic hunger tho

If your in a really bad place then id give it a go even if its just for a short amount of time.

I haven't gained weight on zyprexa. It keeps away the mania and keeps me tired all the time if that's what you're looking for. It also gives me minor tremors. There's bad side effects with every AP.

Zyprexa was the best anti psychotic that I have ever taken. Helped with sleep, anxiety, and depression. I had to stop taking it because I am diabetic and it was affecting my blood sugar. I actually lost weight on it.

Oddly enough zyprexa has been weight neutral for me (I might have even lost some). It works for my psychosis at 20mg but hasn't helped my anxiety.

I've been on Zyprexa for over four years and it's been a lifesaver. I only take a small dose but it is the glue that holds me together. A lot of people gain weight on it and I did at first, but I was also able to lose 100 lbs in a year while taking it. Definitely worth trying.

I've gained 40 lbs on it but it helps. Not for my anxiety but for psychosis. I went down from 15 mg to 10 mg.
