I am in a manic or hypomanic state. I am writing 50-60 messages a day on social media to my new man. He does not say anything yet but I am trying to stop but have not been able to do so yet. Does anybody else have this problem? I am writing about anything that comes to my mind. My mind is going fast and thoughts are coming and going. I want to stop and my medication is doing nothing for this yet. It should kick in eventually. I take Abilify 12-15 mg daily. I'm scaring my new man, I believe. Or, he thinks I like writing and just is letting me be. I told him it is a symptom of my illness and hope he understands. I believe, once my mania subsides, it will stop hopefully. What do others think?

I had it happen to me one time except it was writing messages to my teachers. I finally called my pdoc. She told me to take some medication she had prescribed me to sleep some, but she really, really wanted to hospitalize me because at that point, she felt I was super manic.

For me, this is a sure sign of mania or early mania. I start hyper writing every time I start to go manic.

What kind of things are your writing about? Are they all on the same kind of topic or do you jump around?

I'm sure it will stop once you are no longer manic or hypomanic. It is good you are aware enough to be concerned about it. You could try to find another outlet for your writing so as not to scare away your new man. It is understandable this could scare people. I lost some friends as a result of my manic writings.

How long does Abilify take to kick in?

Do you have meds to help you sleep, and are you someplace where you can nap? That might bring down the mania some.

Can you call your pdoc?

I get this too, and coming out of the mania stops it. Is there a way to temporarily block your social media or have a trusted friend or family member change your password for damage control until you stabilize? Maybe every time you want to send a message write it down and meet up with him and person every so often so you're not totally cut off.

Such a fancy term for writing too much. I learned something today. Thank you.

How are you doing with it now? Maybe first write out what you want to send by hand and see if that makes you reconsider it?

Thank you all for your suggestions! I crashed last night and had to sleep. I slept for about 10 hours. I feel better now. I might have scared him too. I understand. I just took my medication and feel not as wired. I think my mind is calming down but believe my new man is shocked with disbelief. I feel bad about it and apologized to him. I hope he understands.
