What's the point of fighting a losing lifelong battle against yourself accomplishing nothing along the way other than learning to settle for a life you don't want to live?

I dunno, I think we kinda have to select our own points to life. Like the point to my life is to see my kid graduate HS & college. Maybe some would say that's a fairly minimal goal, but for me its enough. Do you have some goal or benchmark that you can choose to make the point of life?

Nothing I want to do that seems realistic.

I feel like the reason I am here on earth is to help others. And I do just that. Whether it be through my teaching or friendships or relationships with family, I share a lot of love with others. That’s what it’s all about.

What do you think your purpose could become?

I'm not searching for a purpose or meaning to life. There is none, in my eyes. I've lived my life believing this and filling it with good experiences, and when I DON'T want to kill myself I don't know how to conjure up a meaningless meaning I can stick to. Every time I find a meaning and feel better it's considered a freakin break from reality and I end up trying to do the right thing and every one says it's a wrong thing.
I would be fine on my own, but unfortunately there's just too much damage done. I'm being mocked for being unable to eat and sleep. Why is there pizza in the street? Literally my life is no different and I don't think humans are any more important than ants. More destructive, violent, aggressive, etc sure, but it's the same process.
Maybe my purpose can be to make the worst species to exist on this planet that we know of go extinct.

Are you on medication? We can't live decent lives without it. I am not on anything at the moment, but what keeps me going is knowing that I will be eventually and I don't have to live in such agony everyday. Until then I do small things that make me feel good, whether its buying my favorite drink or food etc.
Thanks for this!

I can't take meds until I switch where I go for treatment. There are three places within a reasonable distance I know of, one is horrendously disorganized/underfunded and frequently has people jerking off in the waiting room and doctors that don't show up to appointments, the other has rude receptionists that refuse to make necessary appointments and doctors with anger problems that they take out on patients that leave the practice after five months, and one won't accept me. Not like anything I've tried has done any good.

I made a post but deleted it (off topic) .. my paws are crossed for you

PS ... - yeah I often read how people can’t lead decent lives without “medication” - I really hope this isn’t universally “true” ......

This is what I try to do too. Thanks for the refreshing (to me) perspective and post

Nothing I have ever taken worked for me either. For like 3 years! Thats why I am going to take a genetic test that is supposed to pinpoint with meds will work for your body chemistry, so I can skip the trial and error period I have been doing for so long.

Sure medications do help...but they aren't a fix all. I agree with others that making small goals and seeking out small joys can get us on the right path. Don't be so adamant about a magic cure, compromise and adaptation make up most everyones life in one way or another.

Wishing you all the very best moving forward diamond princess.

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think things will improve, they will.
How unrealistic your goals are, only you know.
You have to crawl before you can run. Baby steps will get you there.
