1 hour until my work review. We get two a year. Let’s see if this is my third bad one in a row. The last two were BS and just my manager projecting his own crap on me but I was in no shape to really fight them. This time I might start laughing if they try to pull that again. I am depressed but in a better state than a year ago.
Wish me luck. If the try to punish me again I may have to threaten them with a lawsuit for ADA violations, bullying, and harassment. |

They all assume the worst of me. So I try to explain and tell them to ask me rather then assume but they won’t. Then they tell me to do contradictory things.

I decided I am going ask for a new boss. Mine has too many preconceived notions about me and can’t be objective.

Managers do talk to each other, but I think it is worth a try.

Oh, that sucks!! I've been there and done that, and I've had managers just assume I can't do the job right because of my illness. One even told me once that my work habits were consistent with my diagnosis. I feel for ya, hun.

Feeling a little more fired up about it today and content with the decision to look for a new supervisor. I have also applied for a new job that I kind of always wanted. So hopefully one of the two works out. Plus my T was very happy with how assertive I am being.

Everyone has been telling me for 2 years to document everything but I never felt up to it. So I have been spending all day trying to piece memories together. It is pretty daunting.

I can totally relate to what you're describing here.
When you say "ADA violations" - do you mean that you've disclosed your diagnosis (whatever it may be) with your employer? Also are you going to request a new boss? I was extremely frustrated (and scarred) by my attempt to talk to HR about my issues. My boss was a cruel, over-promoted, underqualified workaholic who routinely overpromised and underdelivered and blamed others for his inability to deliver. He made my life miserable, especially after I disclosed to him that my wife and I were going through an acrimonious separation (thankfully my wife and I are back together again). To be "proactive" and get everything documented, I contacted HR. Amazingly, the jerk was able to convince them that *I* was the screw up, and that everyone else shared his view that I was incompetent. I was put on a "corrective action" in November, then an "elevated corrective action" in April, before getting canned in July. Granted - my recollection of events is hazy at best. I was in the deep throes of a full-blown manic episode. Sleeping 3 hours a night, smoking incessantly, engaging in very risk-seeking behavior…basically every bullet point of the DSM-V diagnosis for bipolar. So while my boss was a complete jerk, I am sure many of the punitive actions were merited. However - I strongly advise against consulting HR trying to get a new boss. More than likely, the firm will side with the abusive boss - they are, after all, there to protect the company's interest, not yours. So, I wish you all the best. Your experience may be different from what I experienced. However, when working with HR I would strongly advise to proceed with caution.

Just had a second review and was blindsided. I thought we were going to talk about a section change but instead I had to defend my job and he said no project managers will work with me so basically he threatened my job.
Everything I said he claimed was an excuse or deflecting. I feel like this is pushing me closer to the hospital again. |

I really hate that things went the way they did. Do you have any PRN meds you can take? It might be time to look for another job with a different company. Try to hang on to that job until you can find another one. Good luck

Quote:
If you have any emails praising you for your work, save them to a separate email folder—even if they're a simple, "thanks for the help!" If you've got tons of those emails, then it starts to prove that you're appreciated by your colleagues and that your work really DOES matter, that it's integral to what you, your colleagues, and your company as a whole are doing. You want to prove that you're needed, and having solid evidence (i.e., email messages) is hard to dispute. If your coworkers are willing to vouch for you, don't be afraid to approach them. Worst case, they don't help and you're stuck in the same boat. Best case, they help you out and you get the recognition that you deserve. If someone approached me asking for help, I would be more than happy to help with whatever it is, as long as that person didn't burn bridges with me. I will genuinely try to the best of my ability to help, but I will always be honest. So expect honesty from your coworkers if you ask for help. |

When I was younger I looked into that. Basically most states are “at will” states. It’s hard as heck to proof any discrimination even if it’s regarding accommodations.
