How do you get to see your psychiatrist?
I honestly don't know how. I call and ask for appointments and that doesn't work, and when I ask the receptionist how to see him in person and she gives me non-answers. How do you manage to get to doctor's appointments? If I switch, I'll have to go to even further towns probably out of state. Sometimes I'm not stable enough to drive an hour and other times my meds don't make it safe for me to drive. I don't want to ask people to take a day off every two weeks and spend their entire day driving or sitting in a waiting room because I'm having a hard time. I suppose I could spend $200 on Uber for a five minute appointment and permission to take a med. How do you take pills on a regular basis? Alarm goes off, it's time to swallow that drug. You go to the pillbox and get distracted in the minute it takes to walk to the kitchen counter where it's in eyesight and get absorbed into something completely different frequent enough that you take less than 60% of your doses. How do you get to see your psychiatrist? I have to schedule months ahead. I only see him/her 3x a year. If I need a med change before I can go to the hospital. I could try to convince my pcp to change my meds but I doubt that will happen. I (just last night) started a journal. just one or two sentences. Then I'll go through it right before my appointment. I use to see a therapist between my appointments but that didn't work out for me.
How do you manage to get to doctor's appointments? I have 3 clinics within ~30 min of me. My husband drives me. How far is your county clinic? They may have therapist that comes to you. Also some centers have a car that can drive you. If you have medicaid they provide free transportation to appointments. You have to call and schedule it. How do you take pills on a regular basis? I only take 2 meds. I've taken up to 5 meds before. My medication is ODT because I wouldn't reliably take the regular version. Now I take it when I send my son to bed. I would be honest about what you're willing to take and what you wont. If you can't promise taking medication 2-3x a day don't promise that. There are shots, ODT medication, and combo meds (symbyax).
